If you are looking for a way to keep up with the evolving demands of marketing in today’s digital age, this article will show you how.

It wasn’t that long ago when I was first introduced to artificial intelligence (AI).

I remember using AI for the first time in college, completing tasks and assignments in just a few hours. I thought it was pretty straightforward at the time: ask your questions, and you'll get a direct response.

While that may be true, there are steps to follow to create compelling marketing copy when using AI.

Many business owners and entrepreneurs feel overwhelmed by the complexity and potential of AI.

But what if I told you there was a way to harness the power of AI to create compelling marketing copy, boost your productivity, and gain a deeper understanding of your audience?

Imagine transforming your marketing strategy with the power of AI, making your business stand out and thrive in a competitive landscape.

Understanding AI in Marketing

AI is designed to mimic human intelligence. It can help you craft compelling content and conduct research quickly and efficiently. Tools like ChatGPT and Gemini are at the forefront of this technological revolution.

However, a little warning...

These tools will NOT work if you don’t understand the basic principles of human persuasion, how to influence people, and how to build curiosity.

If you don’t understand how to define and create the effects you want inside the reader's mind, AI can’t solve that.

All AI does is make it easier to get a lot of stuff done.

Most Common Mistakes

To succeed with AI, you must understand that garbage in equals garbage out. Let me explain.

Most people will use AI (let’s use ChatGPT as an example) and tell it to “write an ad for… [blank].”

ChatGPT will spit out some things, and people will look at it and think, “Oh, this is garbage…”

If you want ChatGPT to actually create some good content, stick around, and I will show you some principles you need to follow.

Another mistake I see people make. Are you writing like a human being or like a robot?

With the advent of AI, people often start talking in the weirdest possible way, in a way no human would ever talk. You can tell when something is generated by AI.

For example, consider this outreach email:

“Subject Line: 🚀Boost More Sales🚀

Dear John,

I hope this message finds you well… (Every robot starts with this.)

I came across your Instagram, and it looks amazing. Your studio’s Instagram aesthetic is impressive; it reflects different hues and moods, exactly as mentioned on your website. I’m also astounded and extremely moved by your commitment to saving the hamster population in Zimbabwe. 🤖 Our company offers services that could benefit your business. 💼 I’d love to chat about how we can assist. 📅 When are you available for a quick call?”

That email is horrendous! No human would ever speak like that!

Another dead giveaway is the overuse of emojis. I’m not saying using emojis is bad, but knowing when to use them appropriately is important.

Addressing Common Challenges and Misconceptions

Many fear AI will eliminate jobs, but in reality, AI can enhance your role ONLY if you know how to utilize the tool properly.

A common challenge is understanding how to use AI tools effectively. It’s important to be specific and detailed when using AI.

The more context and information you provide, the better AI can assist you.

Don’t fall into the trap of being complacent. Some believe that relying on AI leads to laziness.

While that may be true, success using AI requires effort and engagement.

You actually have to use your brain and think. You have to be able to understand human persuasion, influence people, and build curiosity.

7 Principles For Fixing Your Writing and Research

Imagine having a personal assistant that helps you write engaging and personalized marketing copy. AI can analyze your target audience and generate content that resonates with them, saving you time and effort. It can quickly sift through vast amounts of data to provide valuable insights, allowing you to make informed decisions faster.

Here are some principles to follow to get the most out of AI and make your marketing copy effective for your business:

1.) Clearly define your objective: Before providing a prompt, have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve. Specify the purpose, target audience, and the key message you want to convey in your marketing copy.

2.) Be SPECIFIC and DETAILED: The more specific and detailed your prompt is, the better the response will be. Avoid vague or ambiguous language and provide relevant context to guide the AI in generating the content you need.

3.) Use examples or templates: If you have a specific format or style in mind, provide examples or templates to guide the AI. This can help ensure the output aligns with your vision.

4.) Mention the tone and style: Let the AI know the tone and style you want for the marketing copy. For example, you might want it to be formal, conversational, humorous, or persuasive.

5.) Utilize bullet points or key phrases: Instead of writing a long paragraph, consider breaking down your prompt into bullet points or key phrases. This can help the AI focus on the essential elements you want to be included.

6.) Request revisions if needed: If the initial output doesn’t fully meet your expectations, you can ask for revisions. Providing feedback and clarification can lead to better-tailored responses.

7.) Experiment and iterate: Try different prompts and approaches to see what works best. Experimentation and iteration are essential for refining the output and getting closer to the desired result.
